Steam won't connect to the internet !

Hello, 2 weeks ago steam was working normally and now suddenly it just won't connect to the internet

...
I tried reinstalling it, but I just lost my files and have to download TF2 all over again, so it won't update or anything. It tells me to connect to the internet.

.
I did not put any proxy and stuff or changed protocols or anything in that kind. I searched in many forums and tried many things but nothing worked.
Plz help me ! (I want to play .... getting bored

)

If this is the network error message about it not being able to connect to Steam I get that randomly too, though it usually works after the second or third attempt. Seems to be more Steam's end, for me at least.

I am connected by Ethernet.. But the thing is that i have Windows 7 x64bit .. can it be the problem ? ( but steam worked normally less than 2 weeks ago :S )

Are you using a router or any firewalls?
Since steam updated last night, any exception rules made for steam may need to be redone.

I am using a router but i didn't change the settings or anything. And my firewall is disabled and I closed my Internet Security ( Kaspersky)

Go into the router control panel, delete the entry for steam & then re-add it. Then try steam again.

If it is, revert back to the non-beta & see if it works.

what do you mean by the beta thing ?

Is the router control pannel ( the ip (192.168.xxx.xxx ? ).... if it is where is the entry for steam ?

And btw all of my games and internet applications are working normally .. it is only steam that has a problem :S .

If you don't know what the beta thing is, you more than likely are not participating in it.

As for the router CP, it's url is similar to this.
http://192.168.1.1/xxxxxxx.htm
When you log in, look for applications & gaming.
