Counter-strike source fog
So, any way to get rid of the fog that's in css?
This is how it looks for me http://dka.bplaced.net/FTP/counter-s..._dust20005.jpg Exactly, it looks like someone took a dump right over the screen. And this, is how it looks for a friend of mine. http://denaild.square7.ch/ftp/css/sc..._dust20010.jpg See the diffrence? How to get rid of the frickin fog/dust thing? I've tried default config, I've tried changing the resolution, I've tried to set every advanced video option to the asterix (*) nothing has worked so far. |

fog_enable 0
However, it's a cheat command, so you can't use it unless the server has sv_cheats 1. In other words you can't get rid of it. |

Sooo...The reason I've got more than my friend is?
We've got the same config, same startup commands. Only things I've changed are net_pos and cl_showfps. Edit: also, tried to set the server to sv_cheat 1 and fog_enable 0, it didn't remove the fog for ♥♥♥♥. Tried it with the retry command aswell. Last edited by doykA: 01-17-2010 at 10:22 AM. |

Actually as it turns out, it's not fog, is a dusty sort of particle effect, and it does move around in "clouds" of dust. The command is r_drawparticles which is also a cheat command. This problem with overly dense dust clouds seems to be a bug in CSS with some ATI cards. One way you can get around it and make the fog go away is to run the game in DirectX 8.1 mode, either mat_dxlevel 81 in console or add -dxlevel 81 to the launch options. After that comment, I was considering not replying at all. Sarcasm like that is not welcomed here. Last edited by TheMG: 01-17-2010 at 12:38 PM. |

That's with Mat_dxlevel 81, r_drawparticles 0 and fog_enable 0 |

Never new what BUMP stood for, thank!
![]() But yeah, it should be an ATI problem only. Try mat_dxlevel 80/81. |

Honestly, I don't see what you're complaining about.
Forgive me if I'm blind but that looks just the same as CSS always has done, on all 6 of the systems I've used to play it in the past 5~ years. Anyway, here's mine: http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/9955/dedust20000ck.jpg If you think that's any better than your current fog, go get an ATI card. Edit: I apologise, put all of the screens side-by-side and I can definitely see what you mean now. Conclusion remains the same. Last edited by LegendaryDread: 01-19-2010 at 06:42 PM. |
