Go with XFX 5850 or wait?

I decided to go with this card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150442

But I was wondering if I should wait till the new fermi cards come out in case of a price drop?

Will it drop below 300 any time soon or is it more likely to stay at that price?

And where the heck is 5830!? Its FEB 5th it was supposed to be announced or released today!

The 5850 is still selling above the MSRP, so I'm guessing it will come down about $30 when Fermi launches. That is completely speculation though.

The 5830 is probably still undergoing additional testing:

I just ordered an XFX 5850 Black Edition for my wife's new rig. Let me know how you like yours once you've tried it out October. I'm curious.

I think the 5800 series will drop in price with the release of Fermi.

Thats 1-2 months away, so you have to decide if you want it badly enough now.

Well, it was honestly just a rumor, but if you want another rumor:

these cards were selling for $260 at release.

I would wait till Ferni drops their price at this point, or wait on the 5830, and see what that's all about.

If you can get a combo, it is worth it though. Look for deals.

get the 5850 it is a great card.
doubtful the fermi's will compete on price.
could be a long wait before prices drop

You are assuming that nvidia will have a surprise. also their track record of charging more for less lingers about.
