Hi can anyone help me with a steam issue on BF2

I can joined 3 servers and got this with in a minute tried some other same thing, theres been no change to my system other than a steam update the other day.

Turn off Steam Overlay, that should fix it

Punkbuster is kicking you for having Steam overlay(shift+tab) most likely. Could also be some other program that is running "on top" of Battlefield. There is no way of actually finding out what 125083 means since punkbuster aren't sharing their error codes with anyone. I am guessing you haven't been kicked before because the server you have played on before haven't had punkbuster enabled. I have noticed that alot of the servers haven't had punkbuster enabled.

yes that fixed in case your like me and just play the games the over lay thing is found folllowing.

file > settings > ingame tab > untick enable steam community in-game.

now i know it still never works even in win7 with nvida individual profiles ( or i have only had 50% hit miss with it ) but couldnt they offer an option to disable it for cirtain games or would that need some uber programming guru cause it would be sooo hard just wondering :P

It also kicks you if you use fraps

deactivate the steam overlays!!!!

the notifications and the steam tab thing ;D

then bf 2 works for me

if u use mumble also deactivate overlay

I HATE punkbuster! Just because I can't have the steam overlay on... and it'll be a ♥♥♥♥♥ once Punkbuster is activated in BC2.

Is there a ticket open for this either on Valve or EvenBalance's side?

How can a game be sold through steam when it's incompatible with steams features? Punbkbuster is a really annoying software anyways and it's not really making anything secure - but this is ridiculous.
How a freaking steam overlay can be a cheat is a mystery to me, if anything it makes you play worse.
Punkbuster should just vanish from the globe.

On top of everything these totally unprofessional people at punkbuster are even incapable of actually giving the player a hint what might be the thing that they decided to randomly block for no reason. Are they bored and realize how useless their tool is so that they start blocking totally harmless software for no reason now?
What's so hard about printing the message: "Steam overlay is not allowed!"? Noo, they rather leave us with some cryptic message which I believe half of the players can't decipher. The official forums then tell you to disable the crap out of your services and software. This isn't gaming anymore, it's torture and if I could I'd totally demand my money back.

having this issue right now turned off overlay on properties and restarting steam. will report back.

No it doesn't. I have fraps running all the time and punkbuster has never kicked me for it.

I use both the Steam overlay and Fraps at the same time and have had no problems in this game or any other PB-enabled games.

No its not, we are talking of Battle Field 2, NOT Bad Company 2
