I need help fixing the speed issue.

When in geoscape mode the '5sec' speed option is way too fast. I tried it without the 'extended' mode and the speed is fine.

I tried almost everything. D3D window or full screen, hq4 on, etc.

Any suggestions?

Very good post. Everyone needs to read this. Game is much better, than the standard Steam dosbox install now.

I didn't get the remastered music to work. Can someone give a detailed guide on how to enable it? It seems you need the PSX CD for music to work?

How is it not working? I just followed the guide on the first page and everything works, game and music.

You can grab the remade PlayStation Port of X-COM's music here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/666433/xcom_MP3.zip (238mb)
To use this music ingame extract the zip into your "xcom ufo defense" folder, open up "UFOExtender.ini", search for:

[Music]
Apply=0

Change "Apply=0" to "Apply=1", you're done!

Thanks for the guide! Everything is working swell for me!

I do have some questions though:
1) Is there a way to change the keyboard layout? The game thinks my keyboard has a QWERTY layout, while in truth I have a french layout (AZERTY).
2) Is there a way to 'zoom out' the battlescape view?
3) I noticed that the config file has keyboard shortcuts of left and right and up and down (presumably for scrolling), but those keys don't do anything ingame. What gives?

Does anyone have a copy of the file they'd be willing to upload until Bfox's dropbox issue is resolved? I'd really like to try this! :[

I dont have a copy but if i find one i can post fileshare and filesonic links

** EDit

I found the MP3 files, im not sure on the naming convention used but judging by the .ini file it automatically searches with wild cards in a MP3 directory so these should work fine

I uploaded the MP3 pack on mediafire. There are two parts though since I can't upload more than 200mb files.

xcom_MP3part1 - http://www.mediafire.com/?2gvvz3jg9rmirpo
xcom_MP3part2 - http://www.mediafire.com/?ptps0bkxcmdyieb

If you have trouble accessing them, let me know!

I had that same problem. I edited the .ini and changed "Limit FPS=0" to "Limit FPS=40" and it did the trick. 30 seems to set it at normal speed, but I like the little extra boost the rest of the game gets when its at 40. Don't forget to crank up your scroll speed in the battlescape.

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately it didn't work. I will keep messing with it till I fix it.

Ok, managed to fix the geoscape clock speed being too fast.

So, if you are playing this on Win7 x64 and the geoscape clock is going too fast (when using the extender mod), then you can fix this by downloading a hacked "ufo defence.exe"

I got mine from http://www.xcomufo.com/forums/index....opic=242035086

I have an issue with this method, when i try to run the game after installing the downloded files from the link, ad aware goes crazy and says it is blocking the dosbox.exe as it has identified it as a Trojan.Win32.Generic.pak!cobra

it has blocked that file and the game wont run, can any one else confirm that the replacment dosbox file has a torjan inside it?
