A warm thanks to all Shadowgrounds fans!

Hi everyone,

With so many new players coming to the Shadowgrounds games, I wanted to say a big thanks! I hope you enjoy it. Shadowgrounds was our debut game and a very big team effort. In fact, it was everybody's very first commercial game. It means a lot to the whole team here at Frozenbyte, and half of the original Shadowgrounds team is still here working on our new games. So our humble thanks goes out to everybody who supported us in the early years and now - we still get our fair share of the games' sales and it always helps.

This year in November we'll have the 5 year anniversary for Shadowgrounds - it's amazing how fast time flies! After Shadowgrounds we worked on multiple projects that never got released, then on Shadowgrounds Survivor and finally last year we released Trine for PC and PSN. Trine has been our most successful game yet but it never would have been possible without the Shadowgrounds games. While they haven't been huge commercial successes, we have always enjoyed good feedback from all of you and that has been very important. Game development is a lot of hard work (sometimes fun too, I admit) and it takes a lot of energy and passion to keep the flow going, and all the support we've got from the gaming community has really helped a lot.

I can also say that there may very well be a new Shadowgrounds game in the future. We are not currently developing a new game in the series but not a month goes by that we don't occasionally think about it, in the "wouldn't it be cool to create a new Shadowgrounds game" sense. But before that we've got a few other great games that we want to make, so Shadowgrounds has to wait a little bit. Sorry guys!

Regarding support, I'll be here providing assistance with technical issues and other questions. However, we have very limited resources and possibilities to do "hardcore" technical support - if there's a crash, we might not be able to debug it. The games are very stable but there's always a small amount of computers that have some issues. Therefore I would suggest trying out the demos for both games before you buy the game or games, to see if there's any technical problems.

We have planned to do a "maintenance" patch to the games but so far this hasn't happened yet, as there's some technical issues and lack of time too. This would include at least widescreen resolutions and some other minor fixes. (You can manually use widescreen resolutions by editing Config\options.txt and the screen_height and screen_width attributes.) But like I said there's no ETA or any concrete plans as of yet.

All this said now, I hope that everyone has fun with the Shadowgrounds games!

The Shadowgrounds games are indeed great games. I can recommend them to everyone who loves a good shooter. If you like the doom games and the alien movies, you can't go wrong here.

Really cool to hear from the developers so long after release of a game. I really love devs like you guys, and I know, especially as small time, it's not easy to keep resources to support old games.

Keep it up and I'll keep buying your games

Just finished Trine and Shadowgrounds, going to be delving into survivor now.

The ending of shadowgrounds was a little strange though, they all stood there dumbfounded.

Very enjoyable old school gaming, and well worth the sale price I paid for them over the holidays. I will certainly consider playing further sequels, thanks.

Love both games they were an absolute steel and I almost feel bad for buying them at such a low price ( $5 when they were on sale last week ), had a coop session with a mate and it was really good , and as a developer your honesty and helpfull feed back on these forums is very refreshing in this day and age. Keep up the great work JoelFP and team at Frozenbyte.

Cheers. Shonksta

It's nice to know you guys are still working on this, I bought the games when they were cheap on steam like a year or two ago, I think?

Played survivor, it was fun, although I had issues with water graphics.

Hey there Joel, the 5 year anniversary would be a great time for a patch and (why not) new stages, or guns extras etc.
