Wich one is better
hello ther, im going to get a NEW computer and i was wondering wich was one the best
First system got. i5 @ 3.20 ghz GTS240 6114 MB ram Windows 7 Second system got. i5 2.66Ghz hd5750 4GB ram Windows 7 After seeing different videos about benchmarkes i see that GTS240 gets more FPS on GTA4 then the hd5750 what about al the future games that are coming out can i play them with these cards? and what card would be better for old games like Counter strike source. and for the new ones like Crysis, GTA4 ,Battlefield bad company 2 and other new HEAVY games and since the HD5750 got dx11 does it makes the card better? grtzz Last edited by p5666ych0: 02-23-2010 at 08:37 AM. |

Regardless of the amount of RAM, the system with the faster RAM is preferred. (They're probably the same, and 4GB is plenty)
By this logic, and your benchmark values, the 1st system would be better. |

First system has the better CPU.
Second system has the better GPU, performance wise the 5750/5770 are on par with the GTX 260 (DX11 support aside). The GTS 240 is significantly weaker. First system technically has the better RAM, but the benefits of triple channel are meager in the real world. When it comes to gaming, your performance is only as good as the GPU, I'd recommend the second system. The first system would be better if your primary use was photoshop/video editing. |

Is the first one a dual core and the second one a quad?

Memory does help as textures are often cached in system memory first

The secondary issue is the GPU. The 240 vs. the 5750. Neither card is all that powerful. BFBC2 will struggle with both. So will Crysis and especially GTA4. Counter Strike Source will play fine with either. Oh, and the i5-750 (i5 2.66) is a quad core and will do better than the dual core when playing BFBC2. But looking at benchmarks I think the 5750 has the edge. Check out this benchmark testing: http://hothardware.com/printarticle.aspx?articleid=1419. However, there isn't a huge difference and both those video cards are so weak that they will struggle in the games you mentioned. Another consideration is what resolution you are playing at. You didn't describe your monitor. If you are playing at 1280X1024 you will get much better performance out of either video card. At 1920X1080 they will struggle with the games you listed. Regarding DX11, the 5750 does have DX11 capability, however, it is such a weak card that when you crank up the DX11 options you aren't going to get the performance that is required for a good experience so you will end up putting those DX11 setting on low or disabling them completely. Conclusion: I would get the i5 2.66 with the 5750, however, I would be shopping for a new video card right away. A 5770 would be much better especially if you are gaming at 1280X1040. If at 1920X1080 I would want a 5850 rather quickly. I don't know what power supply the PCs come with, but if you choose to upgrade the video card in the future you may have to replace the power supply as well. |
