...I thought it would just start periodically shutting down(and then you can reboot it) until June 1st

It starts auto rebooting and all that crap in 2 days but you can still "use" it for a little longer.

I was more questioning the wording of the message...thinking that it would "expire" on June 1st..and reduce functionality(restart every two hours) in 2 days

You may want to futz with the ownership or sharing of files before W7 stops working. I remember having a hell of a time trying to delete some former Vista RC files with my Vista retail.
Maybe this? |

Not only have we known a long time now, but Microsoft flat out said it back when RC was open to public downloads. So if you didn't think it would expire when you installed it, well hrm just how long did u expect to get a free ride? Each BETA or RC of every previous windows since NT5.0 (to my knowledge) was gotten nearly the same treatment, about 12 months or so of use before it would become deactivated and useless. What more could one expect from a prelease (demo so to speak). If you like it, buy it. If not then go back to XP or whatever you do like that you have a copy of.

oh and BTW, it doesn't just "shut down"...it "shuts off"(hard instant off)...then when restarting it wants to do a disk scan for errors(takes about 30min. or so) with only about 1sec. to cancel the scan...oh my poor 11year-old Kid, I told him if he came up with $105 I would do a fresh install of Win7 Premium for him
(well, actually I'll buy it for him before June 1...just for being my cute little frustrated guinea pig, hehe) ..that computer of his is so full of smack, it could use a good format to get all the bugs and addware off...but I must say, he and Win7 RC had a good time together, and he took to it like a duck to the early worm, he taught me a few good things that it can do...someone had to go first, its just kinda a shame that he will be the last(except for his older brother whos system is fine still using a Vista license) of the systems to get the final release...eh, its good for him to get a little toughened up Last edited by T Rush: 03-04-2010 at 03:59 PM. |

Or if you're a student with access to MSNDAA, it's free
![]() Students can also try DreamSpark if you don't mind using Windows Server 2008 R2. |

Lol Windows Server 2008 is perfectly usable.
However, so apps installer doesn't detect the OS, and so you can't install. And when you shutdown, you have to give it a reason (I find that lawlz). |
