Is there a way i can use Steam through Proxy?
Steam should really add an proxy menu, so i can input my college's stupid proxies and let steam through? WHY is this not implemented? Not everyone has free internet line, as i learned that the hard way.

Answer my question, IS there a way to let Valve know that not everyone has a free unfettered line? I've spent quite a bit of money on games, and i'll be damned if some stupid proxy crap makes STEAM NOT FRICKING WORK AT ALL! as in: i can use firefox through proxy BECAUSE it has a manual proxy menu. WHY the ♥♥♥♥ not for Steam? |

The college proxy would probably only let http through, maybe ftp as well. So, even if Steam had an option for using a proxy, it wouldn't work. For Steam you'd need several ports open that aren't filtered by protocol.

Steam cannot be used behind a proxy.
You will need to have direct internet access with the appropriate ports forwarded. Last edited by JustinL: 02-28-2010 at 04:47 PM. |
