INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Extract to Steam\skins
2. Open Steam Settings, Interface tab, skin dropdown list, select Savvy UI tabs or no tabs
3. Restart Steam

ABOUT:
To make a better default skin that looks and feels like Steam.
I find the default skin dull, lacking in contrast; it doesn't fit with the new look and feel of the Steam store (all updated at the same time). Savvy UI started out with small edits during the 2010 UI Beta and grew to what we have today with the Steam store as inspiration to maintain a consistent look. I find the result very satisfying. I hope you do, too.

RECENT CHANGES:
December 03, 2012
  • Big Picture button changed and moved to below user avatar
  • Screenshot Manager's spoiler tag option added
BUGS:
  • Some arrows don't show all the blue when you hover over it. (minor)

Suggestions and Questions:
Please of course post any suggestions, comments, questions, etc here but if you want to point out something like an issue with the size of the font, PLEASE be specific about where and what you are talking about.

Donations:
Thanks and enjoy!

AH! Finally something different
Its compact, and its blue! Sweet.

Only thing I don't like is the bigger text in Friend list.

Thanks. Could you be specific about the friends list part? Is it the font size overall or the bolded friend names?

I dig the blue! And also removing the gradient from the chat window is nice.

Any chance you could reduce the size of the huge text that is on top of the main window?

It looks awesome, but it's a shame you're using Tahoma.

I love it, good job to all people involved.

Also, is there a tutorial on how to make skins? I think I would like to make one.

I'm sorry you feel that way but it's a very nice font. I considered Verdana [very similar] but I thought the kerning was too much. Tahoma is very legible and easy on the eyes. Segoe UI is good, too, but though they are similar in many ways, Tahoma is, uhm larger and bolder in places [best way I can describe it] and so I prefer it in this case.

I am interested in hearing your thoughts on it.

Can you be specific? Which text is huge? The only text I would consider too bold would be the game titles in the list view with the game images on.

I agree. The larger font/bolded names are freaking me out.

Other than that, I love it (although I am not a fan of the slight blue at the top)

Oddly enough Savage Alien, that's exactly why I don't like the font - it's too big and bulky for the UI. As for alternative fonts, have you tried Calibri?

Calibri was one of the fonts that I first considered, I use it in Digsby as my chat font, and it makes a good candidate. However Calibri is MUCH smaller with the default sizes, some items are fairly spot on or smaller by a bit, other places it seems too tiny [possibly a matter of taste, but I'd rather not strain my eyes]. To fix this you would have to go through each file and change the appropriate element's font size on an individual basis. Nothing as simple/universal as changing the font, unfortunately.
