Linux/Macintosh Steam client online petition
Dear Friends,
I have just read and signed the online petition: "Linux/Macintosh Steam client" hosted on the web by PetitionOnline.com, the free online petition service, at: http://www.PetitionOnline.com/steam1/ I personally agree with what this petition says, and I think you might agree, too. If you can spare a moment, please take a look, and consider signing yourself. |

As far as i know, valve could have made a multi-platform steam, but most of the games woudnt work as they are windows only. 1 of 50 games isnt good enough to justify a multi-platform steam. Of course, you could use wine to run it, but i know it wouldnt be the same.

i am god, bow to my extreme power??
Is that more of a riddiculous statement. I'm in a "communications" consultancy firm at the mo, and after years of suffering the attack of the mac from the PR/Media world I work in, and all the hip kids who aspire to be the next best Art Director, i've finally landed into a company where mac is the only option. and to be honest, i'm rather enjoying the mac as a up and running right out of the box thing. I second this idea (just kidding there god about my early comment, don't strike me down okay

Linux does not have DirectX and I highly doubt Microsoft is going to fork it over so it can be ran on Linux, although there are alternatives.
At this moment in tine Valve is going to keep developing for windows only. |

Well, i play TF2 on linux, but its though wine.
I'd rather them just get full capability in wine then make a native verson |

It would be cool on the Mac, because then i'll probably go and buy a Mac. I'd rather run it native than in an emulator.
Maybe we should escalate this petition...?! |

yes a Mac version of Steam would really help their game deficiency.

Last I heard (and keep in mind, this was ages ago so I've probably misremembered details), Valve weren't willing to develop a Mac version without some kind of assistance (most likely in the form of a novelty oversized check, or small unmarked bills) from Apple. Which, considering Source isn't on the iPhone, means that there's very little chance of a Mac port
![]() There are several unofficial ways (Crossover) to run Steam etc. on a Mac, but they aren't perfect, lacking DirectX 9 emulation as one example. Your best bet would be a cheap OEM version of Windows and Boot Camp. |

Wine runs Steam just fine and newer macs run windows just fine.. So it's not really necessary.
