BFBC2 - unable to connect to EA Online

Okay I have seen numerous posts regarding this, but others at least comment that they can occasionally connect, others refer to being able to login but then can't connect to a server.

My issue is that i installed the game via steam last Thursday, since then trying at numerous different times I still get the message regarding not being able to connect to EA Online.

I am running Windows 7 64bit Ultimate, I have checked the firewall rules and there are UDP and TCP entries allowing it access both ways.

I tried creating port forwarding rules on my router, they didn't work.

I place my PC in the DMZ and that didn't work.

I turned off Virus scaning, Turned off the Firewall completely, and it stilll doesn't work.

I can play single player okay, all my other games don't have any issues connecting.

I uninstalled it, then restored from steam backup and re-ran it... still no joy.

Just BFBC2 won't connect to EA Online, so i can't even login\register\create etc etc...

So does anyone have any idea's?

Also have tried numerous times for the last 8 hours, servers should be up and still no joy...

I haven't even been able to get to get to the login screen, I click on the login button and it reports it cannot connect to the EA Online, every other steam game I have works fine, this one I can't even get there...

That's because the EA servers are down. Also, there are problems for quite a few people trying to connect. I get booted randomly and get greeted by that message myself.

I've been trying all of yesterday and almost 9 hours today. I was under the impression the servers were going offline at 0800 GMT which isn't for another 90minutes.

Well found a fix for my connection issue, but still can't see any servers..

The fix was

1) Click start, go to 'All Programs', then 'Accessories', look for 'Command Prompt'.

2) Right-click on Command Prompt, click on 'Run As Administrator', if you get a security prompt, just choose continue or allow.

3) in command prompt, type, "netsh int tcp set global ecncapability=disabled".

4) Exit Command prompt, and your game should be working.

Thanks this was the closest thing to a fix I found, but it did not work for me.

I am going on 14 days, trying to play online. I put in my email address and password, (No problem), I agree to the terms and condictions, (No problem), It asks me for my Key, I put it in and then it says "Cannot Login, Please Try Again" I have tryed again everday, at least 3 times a day. So today I tried again, but I made a fake code using the same amount of numbers and letters, then it says "Key code is invalid, please try again"
Now, I'm no keyboard cowboy, but I assume it would have to connect with a server of some sort to validate the Key, or invalidate it, as the case may be. Is there any way to fix this? I did buy the game from STEAM, but it did not work so I got it from EA.com and it's the same problem. Am I the only one that this is happening to?
HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!

Before I had the issue myself, I ran "TCP Optimizer". I saw this thread and that "ecncapability" needs to be set to disabled... sure enough, the "optimal" settings in TCP Optimizer set ecncapability to enabled.

So, if any others have this problem, try the fix from Gryphen, or run TCP Optimizer and ensure ECN Capability is set to disabled.
