Error Code 51

Battlefield BC2 crashed one day, no crash message, didn't start it up until recently, gave me a message saying, "Battlefield: Bad Company 2 failed to start "Error Message 51"

Any solutions?

Well , i begg you all to help me with this problem.
I bought this game yesterday on my Steam account : roflpikk1.

When i try to launch it, it says 'Battlefield: Bad company 2 failed to start (error code 51). I tried to restart PC , i reinstalled game 3 times, updated my Video Card (GFX 295) and Defragment cach and verify cach.

Can please somebody help me !?

I have the same problem. Obvious solutions didn't work. Anyone have a link to something that actually helps?

the problem is you have MW2 installed on your computer. Delete that garbage, punch yourself in the face for having ever bought it, and then perhaps BC2 will work.

Actually, the error 51 was solved when I edited my config file and changed my fov to 55 and set directx=auto

Just letting people know.

It might sound weird, but have you tried launching the game from the shortcut instead of the Steam "My games" windows?

I got a similar error, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 failed to start (error code 54). File integrity check ok, same result starting it from Steam or the shortcut. Started happening right after Steam client updated last.

So I exited Steam and started it again and everything works.

i was gonna say,there was a steam update lastnight.after the update,mine did the same thing.all i had to do was restart steam and it was fine.....

it is when steam has an update. just shut computer off and restart then restart steam. worked for me.

Head to this folder.

C:\Users\*PC name/Windows Account name*\Documents\BFBC2

That's on Win7. But there is a settings.ini and another config file. Check those for that line.
