Mass Effect 2 is not a steamworks title and can not be activated on steam.

This is the full list of retail games that can be activated on steam: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...7480-wusf-3601

Hey, does anybody know if I activate a product on steam with the steam trading beta up and (at least) semi-running,
1. Will it give me the option to add the games to my library or inventory?
2. If I already have some of the games, say if the code I'm activating is a pack of games, will it add them to my inventory, or will they be lost in limbo?
3. Will it tell me I already have some or all of the games, and eat my product code?

I looked all over the forums and couldn't find a good answer for any of these. I sent in a ticket to steam support and they straight up refused to answer my question, saying that:
"Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

We do not offer technical support for the Steam beta.

You may, however, be able to find helpful information in the Team Fortress 2 Beta forums"
Which was not helpful to me.
An answer would be gratefully appreciated.

Activated retail games get added to your account and will not be giftable. If you want to trade a game, buy it on Steam as a gift.

P.S.: Why did you bump a thread that is 17 months old?
