Hi there. If I was to modify user.cfg and try to give myself unlimited ammo, would VAC flag (ban) my account? Or does that only happen when you modify the DLL's or the .EXE?
Can someone official like a mod comment on this, please? metrohunter |

its a SP game so i seriously doubt that changing the .cfg file will have any consequences. i changed it, though it was only for graphics.
why would you need unlimited ammo anyway? theres more than enough. besides, you will lose the atmosphere - probably the best thing in the game |

Hi Bullett00th,
It's just an idea I'm toying with at the moment. If I was to do that then, yes, you're right. Thanks for the answer. |

Yes you can edit the .cfg without any consequence, I've had mine edited a few times for graphical setting testing as well as toying around with god mode and infinite ammo (Only for messing around, serious play throughs I don't use cheats).
In the .cfg there is actually 2 settings, 1 for god mode and 1 for the infinite ammo if you can find them. If you play on Easy or Normal you won't really need infinite ammo, but on Hardcore it cuts it close a lot of the time. |

Thanks guys. Just to test them out I turned them both to "on", but when I continue from the last checkpoint they don't seem to work.
Am I missing something here? |

I started the chapter again from scratch. I threw a grenade and still died.
I *must* be missing something... |

They're probably disabled by default and only activate in debug mode.
We don't know how to enable any sort of debug mode. |

Unless you are cheating in an online game, VAC doesn't care.

Well, seeing as it doesn't seem to work (for the time being) I'll just leave it well enough alone. Thanks for your help guys.

user.cfg related, how do I change my aspect ratio? Looks weird at a 4:3 resolution (1024 x 768).

You must edit 2 files as far as I know, and they must both be set to "Read only" after the edit.
User.cfg 1 is in %Appdata% and User.cfg 2 is in the Metro 2033 folder. (IIRC) I hope this is of help. ~JXF. |
