Can the DLC make the gifted and uncut version a cut version?
Hi everyone,
I recently received the game Borderlands from a friend living in the USA, so it is the uncut version (if I would buy it on my own, it would be censored, since I live in Germany...). Now the question: If I download the DLCs from Germany, will the game remain uncut, or is it going to be cut after that? Has anyone made experiences with that, not only in that particular game, but also in general. And is it possible to gift DLCs? I just added a DLC for testing reason to my cart, and the gifting button was available, so I guess it is. If so, I really have to bother my guys from oversea all the time :P Thanks for some constructive posts ![]() And happy eastern holidays! Sincerely DizzyDaz |

You can gift DLC's too. Also if you buy the DLC from Germany I think your game will be censored or DLC will be censored only. Because Gearbox is selling censored DLC for Germany and uncut DLC for other countries on their site. So Steam will do the same.
https://store.gearboxsoftware.com/support/ If you want to be sure your game in uncut, just tell your friend in USA to gift the DLC for you. |

I did read a lot about cut and uncut because I wanted a blood patch.
Some people had problems with mixing cut/uncut versions of games and DLCs. For example uncut version from UK and DLC bought in germany. The last reply I did read was from the developer (I think at least) with "we are looking into". But I do not know from when that post was. So: There *were* problems with mixing cut/uncut. But: I do not know if they are solved by now. |

Yeah, just what I expected,, unfortunately. Well, the additional advantage is, that buying games from Americans is also cheaper, because the prices here in Germany are "1:1", meaning that a 25$ game costs 25 euro. But: 25$ are only ~18,50€.
Well you have to transfer your friend a little bit more than 25$, because he will be charged a fee by PayPal. Hence you have to submit him 26-27$, but it's still cheaper. Hope Steam will introduce a way of effective age verification, allowing Germans to purchase uncensored games (it's legal to order Borderlands uncut at Amazon.de etc. You just have to show your ID when the delivery guy is coming) And on top a proper foreign currency translation, which doesn't make us pay more (guess it's a general problem in all countries with Euro, not only Germany). Thanks for your answer. |
