System Lock Up
Hello, I was wondering if anyone here could help me with a problem. After playing the the game for an inderterminate amount of time, the screen goes funny (vertical black or coloured stripes), the sound plays for a few seconds then starts stuttering, then the system eventually locks up, forcing me to hard reset the computer.
At first, I thought this was a problem with the Unreal 3 Engine, since I was having this problem with other games that used the engine (Bioshock and Batman: AA), however, after using Driversweeper to remove an nVidia driver from my computer (stupid integrated graphics card that I turned off on day 1), the problem seemed to be fixed. I could play Batman for hours, and completed it not too long ago. When I went back to The Last Remnant, I could also play that for a while too. However the old problem seems to have returned but only with this game, Batman and Bioshock seem unaffected and there's no nVidia driver to mess things up this time. The only major thing that changed was all the options had reset to default, forcing me to set it up again, but no graphics were put above what I was using before, I've even turned some of them down! Now for the system specs: AMD Athlon 7750+ Dual Core 2.7gig 2*2Gig Corsair Ram DDR2 800 XXX ATi HD 4850 512Mb Windows Vista 32bit SP1 I don't think it's overheating, other games are more demanding on the card and I could run the furmark test program for an hour no problems and it only ever pushed the card up to 78 degrees Celcius, this game doesn't even do that. I'm wondering if it's because it has to constantly load new textures almost every time the camera changes, which in battle can be a lot. The crashes only seem to happen in battle now, before it could be at any time and a lot during cutscenes. Anyway, any help you could give you be very much appreciated. I just want to see this game through to the end. |

I am having the same exact occurance happen and it's causing me to not be able to finish this game.
I likewise play for anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours and the game screen shows colored vertical/horizontal lines, the sound plays then stutters, and the system must be manually restarted on the case. My system specs are: Pentium Q6600 Quadcore 2.4GHz Radeon 4870 512mb Window's Vista 32-bit w/4 gigs memory I've tried numerous fixes, including discontinueing play in Windowed mode, turning down graphical settings, and even reinstalling, but nothing seems to be able to fix it. If anyone knows of a fix for this, it would be greatly appreciated so I can finally beat it seeing as how I've already invested over 100 hours into it |
