Unhappy Saved Games Missing?

Seems my saved games have disappeared. Can I expect them to return? When I logged into JC2 today (after a couple of days without playing it), there were no saved games.

I'm not sure if Steam Cloud saves your saves, I see it 'syncing' after I shut down the JC2 client. Might back up the local files when I find them just in case.

It saves my save points in the cloud, although my laptop (9800M GTS at 1920x1200) doesn't play it very well unless the settings are down a bit so I usually just play on the desktop.. I think the only Steam Cloud game that I have that doesn't sync the saves is MW2, or at least it didn't when I played that last..

I was aware that the games were being saved somewhere local --- but that makes it all the more odd that my saved games disappeared.

Hrm. Did some more searching. It appears that it used to be keeping it's save files in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<some number>\8190\remote

Where <some number> likely represents my steam ID and 8190 likely represents the steam program ID.

... now, for some reason, it's chosen to keep the save files in:

C:\Users\<my username>\AppData\Local\SKIDROW\SAVES\8190

... which I could accept as some pre-steam throwback for the game code ... except the 8190 is still there.

I'm confused. Has this happened for others?
