Edit 2:
Game is still crashing, switched to a single monitor res of 1920x1080 and after the Game Spy logo appears the game crashes to the desktop :|

Edit:
I had to manually change my resolution in the ScourgeEngine.cfg file located in: C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\The Scourge Project Ep1-2\ScourgeGame\Config

ResX=5760
ResY=1080

On another note, alt-tabbing causes the game to crash...
------------

Is anyone else having the game crash under windows 7 64bit? The game starts, goes full-screen but no video appears but the audio is working... than a good 20 seconds after that it crashes to the desktop.

Computer Specs:
Windows 7 64bit.
ATi Radeon HD 5970
i7 930 @ 3.52GHz
12GB DDR3 RAM.

I'm throwing a four-man Scourge LAN tonight and one of the guys at the LAN had the exact same issue as you. We couldn't figure out how to fix it until I saw that you had your steam installed to the 'S' drive. My buddy had his installed on 'E' and it wouldn't work. He did a Steam backup of Scourge then reinstalled steam on the 'C' drive (had to delete steam from windows registry, search for steam.exe in regedit). Now it all works fine. Happy gaming.

Unhappy

Edit:
I just tried to symlink S:\ C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam, and updated the registry so Steam thinks its installed on the C: drive but the game still crashes.

Thanks for the information, but I am unable to move my Steam installation at this time: http://i39.tinypic.com/wksgsh.png

Guess I will wait for a patch :\

+1 to you.

I guess you don't have to move all your Steam games. I have a method that might work, but I've never tired it since I install on C:\.

Just uninstall this game and Steam on S:\, then install Steam on C:\ and install this game afterwards. You can leave the binary files of the other games in S:\, but you'll have to uninstall/reinstall Steam back to S:\ to play the other games.

Intstalled on C:\ Crashes on startup after Gamespy logo. Windows 7 64-bit. UT3 works, btw.

Windows 7 64-bit
4GB RAM
Q6600 2.4GHz
2 GeForce 250GTS 1GB Cards, not in SLi at the moment.

I'm in the same boat here on Vista 32bit. Crashes after the painfully long intro vids. I've tried just about every ini variable I can think of. All the other UT engine games I have tried have worked fine.

Okay, so I got bored and decided to try some experimentation, here are my results thus far:
Symptom1: CTD after initial videos (Specifically, GameSpy logo)
Symptom2: Logged critical error after loading AUD_DIALOG_L1.INT

Attempted solution 1: Indiscriminately changing settings in ScourgeEngine.ini, no effect.
Attempted solution 2: Disabling nVidia SLI: No effect, same fault.
Attempted solution 3: Deleting AUD_DIALOG*.INT: No effect, logged error changes.
Attempted solution 4: Deleting AUD_DIALOG*.INT, revalidating: No effect.
Attempted solution 5: Removing intro videos: No effect.
Attempted solution 6: Disabling intro videos: No effect.
Attempted solution 7: Compare AUD_DIALOG_L2.int against a working copy: Files matched.
Attempted solution 8: Enabled Creative Audio Service: No effect.
Attempted solution 9: Disabled all audio services: Partial FIX!
Attempted solution 10: Disabled hardware sound, enabled svcs: Faults.
Attempted solution 11: Enabled Audio Endpoint Builder: Partial fix, no sound.
Attempted solution 12: Disabled all sound settings in-game, enabled Audiosrv: Faults.
Attempted solution 13: Reinstall Creative drivers: Fixed problems with 5.1 surround everywhere else, but Scourge still crashes.
Attempted solution 14: Indiscriminate violence: No effect.
Attempted solution 15: Downgrade audio sampling rate: Good fix!

Setting related to sound.

Instructions (Vista):
1) Right click your audio icon in the system tray (The speaker-looking thing) and select 'Playback Devices'.
2) Ensure that you're still on the 'Playback' tab, if not, select it.
3) Highlight your default playback device. (It'll have a green checkmark on it).
4) Click the 'Properties' button. (Botom right)
5) Click the 'Advanced' tab.
6) Note the current setting of 'Default Format' on a piece of paper. You may want to change it back afterwards.
7) Under the 'Default Format' drop down menu, choose 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality).
8) Click OK.
9) Run the game.

Same problem here... CTD after the gamespy video.
Win 7 x64. No other issues with unreal games (e.g. gears of war or vegas 2).

/sigh

Seems I've having the exact same issue:

I'm not installed on c:, but on e:, so perhaps that DOES have something to do with it.

Look, i've just played it, for at least 1 hour and didn't have any problems, Win 7 x64 too, you should try verify the ingrity of the files and update your drivers.
I've got it installed on my E: drive so, it isn't a problem.

Try deleting, at least, the ScourgeGame.exe file and verify the integrity

Removing my audio (and video, just to be sure) drivers via Driver Sweeper and then installing the latest drivers fixed the problem for me.

I switched to my USB headset after thinking about rafcor's post and the headset worked, which narrowed it down.

+rep, rafcor.

Update: Stopped working again, and I haven't heard any sound in game yet. Grr. Almost there...

Update 2: this. The only way I can play now is with my headset, but there's no sound in game. I get sound for 2 of the intro videos (not the first one). What a piece of junk.

Update 3: Reinstalling the Realtek drivers AGAIN did the trick. Wonder how long this will work. At least I have a working game with sound now.

honestly i think i see at least one "Does not work in 7 64 bit" post per game release... so why am i no longer surprised to see this?

tbh this is why 64 bit won't take off, no ones programming things for it, so the support makes it worthless to get.
why even try? i gave up on 64 bit with XP 64 bit pro, the lack of support was just too obvious to ignore, same for Vista, and continues with 7.
why even get 64 bit?
