Remapping Controls for EFLC (PC)

I purchased this game today through Steam and went in to remap my controls as I always do. (I don't like using ASWD for my movement controls among other things I usually remap.) So I made my changes to my movement key as well as various other keys. When I went to exit (esc) to the previous screen, I got this error:

"Warning A critical control is unmapped. Do you wish to exit control mapping? Changes made since your last save will be lost."

I am then given the option to press "Enter" to exit without saving or "escape" to go beck in to the control remapping window. I have check over and over to see that all the keys are assigned and they are. But the game will not allow me to save my changes and to back to the game. Any ideas on how to resolve this problem?

I don't believe I had this issue with GTA 4. I was able to remap those keys without trouble.

I'm having that same issue right now. I'm searching just as you are for a solution.

I'm left handed, so I have to change pretty much all the controls to the right side of the keyboard (using numberpad for movement), but once I get everything mapped, I get that message. Everything is mapped-- no question marks-- so I'm at a loss.

There must be some control that can't be changed. I'm gonna try changing them one at a time (ugh) to see which one it is.

The "down" arrow key is now used to detonate sticky bombs, maybe you need missed remapping that one?

Hah, I just figured it out by doing it one at a time, and you're right. I like using Down for jumping since I use the numberpad. Is there no way I can set this?

Ok...going one key at a time, I found that the issue is indeed with the down arrow key. Although I am not seeing anything in the bindings list where I need to replace what used to be bound to the down arrow key. Please advise.

....anyone? I know there is a way to solve this problem because I was able to set up GTA 4 using the arrow keys for movement. Now I don't seem to be able to do that.

Any help in solving this would be greatly appreciated.
