How well does classical music play in this game?

I'll admit it-I'm not normal. My library consists of only 30GB of classical music ranging from A-Z and I have no rock, rap, swing, or any "young person" music in there.

So, would it be worth purchasing this game?

"young person" music? Oh boy.

Yes, the game is worth buying even if you have super slow music. For 7 bucks, it isnt a bad purchase at all.

At best I could play a track by Maksim Mrvica and report back... though I'm sure his slightly more upbeat versions of classical music would fall under "young person" music =P

Be prepared to have a challenge though! Slower songs means the enemies are a bit weaker, but your weapons are also very weak.

And if a boss shows up.... well... nice knowin' ya :P

And a boss WILL show up. They seem to be cued by slower parts of the song - which means pretty much the whole song. I have limited classical but I can take a crack a few and report back.

Well, my ship just exploded long before I hit the cannonballs in the Overture of 1812. D: So I'm not expecting much. Trying Mars now.

At some point in the near future I'll ustream my repeated attempts to beat a recording of 4'33" on insane.

I've found some of Niccolò Paganini's pieces for single violin tend to work well, seeing how they're quite often very lively works. Haven't experimented with much classical yet.

Thanks for the input! I bought the game, and boy, were you guys right. Looks like I'm going to be sticking to the heavy, fast, and upbeat stuff. Thanks! Great game!!

Looks like I'm gonna have to put some Liszt on and give it a try.

Yeah classical rocks!

A: The melodies are a challenge alone
B: The upbeat tempo style are ace as metal
C: Because this game rocks regardless the song!

Just tried In the Hall of the Mountain King. Fun song. At the beginning your beat blaster is pretty much useless and you're having to sneak around just like Peer. Once it picks up...Well, Peer wishes he had that kind of firepower to blow the trolls away.

You know how insane cranks up the difficulty by increasing the number of enemies? Well playing classical cranks up the difficulty by making your gun useless during soft/slow passages even with Beat Hazard up.

I've got to Elite 4 and I can beat certain songs on Insane, but I've yet to beat any pieces in my classical collection on normal even. The problem usually is that a boss spawns and then the piece gets quiet so I can't shoot down all the rockets/rings that home on me.

So far, the closest piece I've come to clearing is Night on Bald Mountain, but I failed at the end part with the harp motif. I thought the 4th movement of Shosty 5 might be easy but it's pretty challenging.

I played some classical music and I tend to find it works pretty well. Not all classical music is slow, and most of the time, the power of enemies and weapons tend to depend on the complexity of the music.

So fast allegro or even orchestra music with the ensemble of strings playing would work.
