Multiple copies of a game

I previously purchased GRID for my account (Xmas sale) and then I just purchased the CodeMasters collection.

So now I have 2 copies of GRID associated with my account, I had though that I would have been able to gift one?

Only if it indicates you can. The game company has to be the ones that ok's that, not Steam, regardless if you already have it or not. Simply put "here's the deal, take it or leave it!" Peace.

Yup. The Codemasters pack does not include extra copies. I bought the pack, and yes I owned GRID before. On checkout, it clearly told me I own a game and will NOT receive an extra copy.

What I should have done was to just buy the games that I wanted and no the whole pack.

I own GRID on Steam and DiRT 2 on Direct2Drive.
I wanted to gift both of those.

Then again if I own both GRID and DiRT 2 then why the hell did I buy a package deal?

I should have just bough DiRT and been done with it.

This is why I hate steam deals , I always buy them without researching into them...

For future reference when considering deals, this Support article lists which games are eligible for extra copies.

Extra Copies

But you had the option of buying each one individually?

Yes, I could have bought DiRT and ToCA separately.
