So only just now have I been able to play. I preordered the game and was playing a bit during the beta. Then just as the game released, my graphic card died out. So now I have a new, better card and I'm actually able to play. When I go in to login and it asks for the serial key, I give it the key labled "promo" and it says "unable to login, please try again later". Am I doing something wrong?

You should have another CD-key, have you tried that? Promo key didn't work for me either.

Correct, on the library tab of steam right click BC2 & hit "View Game CD Key"
In that window you'll see 2 listings under the item section. The one labeled BC2 is the key you make your account with & the (promo) key you enter after you log in to the game & that gives you your unlocks.

Ah. See I was out of the loop when all this was actually going on for most people. I was scared to use the other key because I thought it might not let me get the unlocks but its all clear now.

Yeah, that's how I was too. Don't worry about it, it gave me and my friends who preordered the unlocks. Doesn't really matter though, cause the pre-order unlocks aren't that useful IMO and come pretty fast anyway.
