GTA 4 not starting ...

So, I downloaded the normal GTA4 today, since I wanted to try out the new two expansions.

After downloading the main game, the game was installing Directx and then started the Social Club Manager, telling me that I have to log-in to get access to the Multiplayer mode (uhm, hasn't SCM been removed by RSG?).

Anyway, after entering my access data, the game said "authorizing user", then closed the application and ... well, nothing happened.

Game didn't start up, uhm, what's wrong here?

Also, offline mode doesn't work either (same problem).

EFLC is standalone and doesn't require GTAIV to even be installed.

RSC has been removed from EFLC but is still required to ply GTAIV

So, EFLC has everything that GTA4 has, expect it's campaign, right?

Also, I tried to update the game manually by installing the newest patch, and still no success. I can't get the game to work. I want at least to check out if the performance has been improved before I buy EFLC + how can I be sure that EFLC won't have the same problem as I have for now?
