[Mac] Steam overlay and cmnd + tab not working

When I play torchlight in full-screen, I am unable to Shift + tab to get the steam overlay, and I can't cmmnd + tab to switch to other programs.

I also can't cmnd + M to minimize/maximize, not sure if that is a bug, or if it isn't a feature.

The main issue is the steam overlay problems.

iMac, 2ghz intel core 2 duo, 3gb ram, 128vram (only 128, I know )

I posted this problem too, it's really frustrating not to be able to switch programs.

Go to System Preferences => Universal Access => turn on Enable Access for Assistive Devices.

It should work now. By the way, Steam warns you about that the first time you run a game.

This does not help. Portal works fine, but Torchlight does not.

Also, in both games, shift-tab doesn't work very well. I'm going to try disabling TextExpander to see if there is a conflict.

I just had to force quit TorchLight because I paused, hit shift-tab, it worked, then I clicked forums, then the entire steam hud UI disappeared and no keys worked, I could not even click resume.

Also everyone should update Mac OSX Snow Leopard to the latest version (10.6.3, don't know if this works for Leopard) as Apple put on the release notes major fixes for OpenGL applications, I got a huge performance improvement on World of Goo for example, it now runs flawlessly.

Seconded, this doesn't help. I've always had that enabled.

Disabling TextExpander didn't help.

When I press shift-tab or command-tab, I swap spells. So the game is only seeing tab and not the modifiers.

Very annoying... I love being able to quickly switch out to search for tips using Safari, or respond to IMs/emails. Hoping they can fix this soon.

I'm also having these problems with Torchlight. I can't command-tab to switch programs. I have "enable access for assistive devices" turned on. I'm running OSX 10.6.3.

Command-tab works in portal.

Also, in both Portal and Torchlight my overlay doesn't work on my Mac Pro but does work on my Macbook Pro.

Will have to jump on the bandwagon with Torchlight and the overlay not working. I've noticed it craps out after you return to town using a town portal scroll. Before that the shift-tab command works, but after heading back in to Torchlight to do some shopping/etc the overlay completely craps out. I also noticed this because I missed out on two achievements, the feed your pet a fish and the Brink related achievement. Neither popped up after that section of the game and when I exited they weren't showing up on my Steam account. Everything works fine in Portal though

It's always been enabled for me, I found it on, turned it off and back on and still not working.

FIXED: A friend and I changed the default key settings in Steam to our own combinations. I went with CTRL + Z and is working perfectly every time now.
