So ..... armour?

I cant see any indications that I picked the armour upgrade anywhere, nothing seem to change on the screen, no feedback that I can see anyway.
Is it just automatically applied to my hull and that is that, or can I see some kind of statistic of it anywhere ??

As far as I can tell only guns change (look). If you selected the armour you have it. Your ship should take more of a beating.
