Large Updates?

hi all

i have a question, the last 2 updates that steam has downloaded for modern warfare 2 have been 7 and 4gbs, i didnt sign into steam for a week and now am getting hit with a 4gb update, surely something isnt quite right here. Anyone else been having this issue or is it just me?

Your game files got corrupted some how and it redownloaded the game. The total amount of updates this game has hasn't even totaled to 1gig

any ideas why it could be corrupting?
and could i move the files to another hdd? cause it may be the hdd failing it is getting on in years now
