Angry Profile won't load

I have been running into problems with overlord starting, so I uninstalled, reinstalled, and now the game will load. However, I just get a black screen when I attempt to load a profile. I had not had this problem before, as I played almost 80hrs earlier this year on this computer without a problem.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Core 2 Quad 2.33 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS

EDITEDITEDIT:
I fixed it for me.
All I did was restart my PC and it works.
If this works for you, have fun! If not, I dunno ;(

Same here..

I click my profile, then for a split second it writes "Loading" or something like that, can't manage to see it cause it's too fast, then it goes to a black screen. The game isn't stuck/frozen or anything, it's just a black screen.

I have tried verifying both games multiple times.
I have also tried running as admin, and running in compitable mode with Windows XP Service Pack 3.

My system specs are:
Windows 7 64-bit
i7-920
6 GB Corsair Dominator Ram
HD 5870
my windows is running on a 32GB SSD ("Extreme")
And my game (and steam) is on a 1 TB Green HDD.

Screen fades to black after Profile Selection

I have the same Problem.

The Screen fades to black right after the Profile selection.
I was really happy to find a Sollution in this Thread, yet restarting my Computer does not work for me.

I have bought the Overlord Pack with the Add On and Part 2 in it, but I have only installed Part 1 so far.
I'm using the English Language Version.
Download was on June 26 2010 - haven't found the Games update revision yet...

Game Cache was tested and is Valid.

I have tried setting the Game exe to "open as Admin", because some other boards favoured that sollution, but that lead to a crash when starting the Game:
User Account Control asks 4 Times for Access Confirmation on overlord.exe. Steam Launcher pops up serveral times, then the Game stopps working.

I've tried the Compatibility Mode with XP SP2 too, but that did not change anything.

I have also tried switching the Video and Audio Settings as well as Screen Resollution to the lowest level possible.
The Game will always load then, but it stops working after selecting a Profile...

I think it says "Loading..." there for a split second, before the image fades away to blackness.

My System Specs are:
Windows Vista 64-bit (SP2)
i7-920
12 GB-Ram
G-Force GTX 280
2-Screen-Configuration
Creative X-FI Extreme

I hope there exists some sollution for this Problem that allows me to play this game. Otherwise I'll just have to forget about it and try part 2...

I found that the problem happened with me because the expansion was parcially installed. I uninstalled all my overlord games and only installed the first one and the problem was fixed. Hope I helped!
