Canīt play cause of constant high ping..
Hi,
bought this game yesterday and its AWESOME! But, i cannot play on any server cause i always have connection problems.. i have a pretty slow connection, but i can play css with a ping of 70-80.. so why does this game says me my ping is about 500? (no its not the server, some ppl even hab a ping of 15..) are there any netsettings or something like that? |

Try sorting the server list by ping (click the "Ping" text in the top right, you should see an arrow pointing up) then join a server with a low ping. Where are you playing from? The basic communication protocols are very similar to CS, though latency will vary depending on the connection quality of the server you're connecting to, and your proximity to that server.

I found a good server a few minutes ago, and my ping was "only" at 200ms.. But i could play! ^^
Iīm from germany, and it would be cool if you could add a filter : "location.." like in css.. I love this game and would like to play it with lower latency.. |

The game definitely works at 200 ping, but <100 is ideal. Guess we need more German servers! If you have good upstream you may want to host your own: http://altitudegame.com/serverhelp.html

If you are located in Germany then the {arr} servers should be as good for you as almost anything can, as they are located in France. If those don't work well then your connection is the main problem here.

I also can't play due to high ping. I have a good internet connection (4.6 Mbps) and when I look at the list of servers it shows for example a server with 25 ms ping, after I connect I get a ping up to 800 at some moments. I've though that some other application might be connecting so I've shut everything down besides steam and Altitude and I still have the problem. It started a few days ago, before that everything was fine. The servers I used to play on now don't work anymore since I constantly get kicked due to high ping. Anybody else got any ideas?

It's hard to imagine why this behavior would start suddenly. One possibility is that your local network connection is experiencing problems (or filtering UDP traffic at certain times of day, some campus networks do this inducing 500+ ping during filtered periods). Another is that you need to set up port forwarding on your router (though this usually shouldn't affect you unless others are playing Altitude from your local network and your router does not support UPnP). Here's a port forwarding example: http://altitudegame.com/portforward?...175,ExamplePC2

Try to find Server in your Country. Its "normal" to have a ping above 100ms! (Youīre Lucky when yours is lower
)

Wut??? my highest ping so far was 149 =P and even that was a wierd server... usually my ping is around 50-80 ms on most servers (and ye if you choose ping <100 it will show you below 100)
