Custom Resolution + Font Fix for Custom Resolution

Haven't tried it on the sequel, but i'm sure it's basically the same

To get a custom resolution you need to go to:

(32 bit)
C:\Program Files \Steam\steamapps\common\chrome\Data\

(64 bit)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\chrome\Data\

Find the file VideoSettings.scr

Make a backup of the file VideoSettings.scr, then rename the main one to VideoSettings.ini

Open it up with notepad and find the variable Resolution, change the settings to whichever you like, such as my resolution is Resolution(1680,1050), then rename the file back to VideoSettings.scr

Now, once you've done this, the font in the game is going to be so small you won't be able to see it very much at all, so now you need to go to the Menu folder, like this "...common\chrome\Data\Menu"

Find the file called Button.def, open it up with notepad, and find the variable FontScale(0.5), change that to a higher number, you can experiment with it if you want, FontScale(1.5) or FontScale(1.75) seem to be just fine for my resolution

You will also need to find the file HUDButton.def in "...common\chrome\Data\UIDef" and do the same thing as above with FontScale

Hope this helps!

hacking system too small

hi there.
After applying what you said I get perfect res and bigger menu options but a bit corrupted... this is not a big issue as long as the text is readable. The problem comes with the in-game hacking system, the simbols in the buttons still too small...

Any suggestions?

\Data\HUD\HUDHack.scr

I added a 1.0 to every FontScale - it improves a bit on 1920x1200, but still might need tweaking

Thanks a lot for posting this. Thanks to this info, I've been somewhat able to fix the issues mentioned in my thread: http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=1275022

The only issue I have now is I cannot run fullscreen mode (which was what I disabled to get the game running). I do suspect, though, that I might be able to and it's a matter of having the correct input in the fullscreen line.

In your videosettings.scr file, what does your 'fullscreen' line look like? I have

Fullscreen()

prior to deleting it.

Note, I'm not talking about the dummy !Fullscreen() line above, listed with the other dummy lines. I'm referring to the one below.

My guess is something needs to go in the parenthesis to make fullscreen work. I've already tried '1' which failed. Please, what do you guys fullscreen line look like in videosettings.scr, exactly? That is, if you even have one such line!

I have the following in my VideoSettings.scr

Resolution(1920,1200)
BPP(24)
TexBPP(32)
TextureQuality("High")
Filtering("AnisotropicTrilinear")
Fullscreen()
Shadows("ShadowMaps")

As you can see, there is nothing in the Fullscreen()

Thanks for the info. Anyone know how to get the gamma to change? the interior stuff is way too dark. I try to change it in-game and it doesn't do anything.

Vzync? just set you hz level to sync with your native resolution. it should take care of the rest.

When I right click on the VideoSettings.scr then rename to VideoSettings.ini and attempt to open it I get the red circle with the X in it stating "...VideoSettings.ini.scr is not a valid Win32 application" What am I doing wrong? (Win7 64bit). So I'm renaming but its not changing the type of file i.e. .scr to .ini Thanks

You're not renaming the file.....

you have VideoSettings.ini.scr, which is still a .scr file, the .scr needs to go away, or at the least not be at the end, it needs to end with .ini

Exactly...that is my problem...because when I right click on VideoSettings to rename there is no .scr to delete or overwrite...it just states VideoSettings...so I add the .ini and when I go to open & edit the .scr is still there...even when I go into properties I don't see how to eliminate or replace the .scr Thanks for any help!

You shouldn't need ReNamer, what's going on is you have windows hiding "known extensions", if you do not want windows hiding known extensions you need to go to Folder Options, click View, and unclick "Hide extensions for known file types"
