Finally!!
I stumbled across Penumbra a few years ago without knowing anything about it; I was just browing games looking for something new and it looked like a pretty creepy game. As it turns out, the game was wicked creepy, and the only true survival horror I've played. You're not Billy Big-Guns with an arsenal of weapons at your dissposal and a cheesy one-liner every time you blow something up. It's nice to know Amnesia will continue the awesomeness!

Yea, thats what I like about these games. They are actually scary, because you really cant fight stuff head on. Unlike all these "horror" games where you have a rocket launcher and a smg all the time.

More fun is that in Amnesia you don't need to wonder why any researchers didn't bring a gun to work, because in Amnesia guns haven't even been invented yet (if you ignore bows, of course).
I wonder tho, guns in Penumbra. If you had one pistol, half a clip of ammo... and having to choose the right moment when to spend your precious ammo. No, no that wouldn't work. |

That's what I loved about Penumbra; you're just a regular guy. It allows you to become more absorbed in the atmosphere when you're playing a character who's not that much different than you. I mean let's face it, there aren't too many people who are gunslingers and can hold a horde of zombies at bay with a 9mm. It sems like this game limits the damage you're gonna be able to do and forces you to rely on survival instincts, which makes for one hell of a game. |
