Catalyst 10.5 and OpenGL crashes

It seems as though 10.5 breaks the game, at least for me. I couldn't figure out what the problem was for the longest time; my game was suddenly crashing upon boot.

After realizing that I had switched to the new 10.5 drivers, I switched back to 10.4, and the game is now bootable and playable again.

What gives?

Hopefully someone finds this information of use.

The ATI Catalyst 10.5 drivers contain a bug that screws up pretty much every Q3-based game. Some of which experience severe graphical glitches, others simply wont start at all, like JA.

Have you tried 10.4? They seem to work fine.

No problem. I feel the same way. It sucks having to install the older drivers just for one or two games!

Anyone still receiving this problem it is due to the new 3.3/4.0 OpenGL files.

Download this and place it in your GameData folder.

Same thing works for Jedi Outcast and Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Rumor is that the new 10.6 will fix this issue with a updated OpenGL but the latest leaked versions still seem to have this issue.

When the 10.6 drivers do come out, try to move this file out of the folder to see if the problem is fixed or not so you are always running the latest.

Dude. If that seriously fixes the problem, you are my hero. Gunna try it this week, thanks so much!

Was hoping the issue would receive official recognition.

For some reason this file isn't working for me... even signed up and gave me a 403 (must be logged in to download) error on IE, or just blank window on Firefox.
