Mac Hardware Vs PC -- Mac Are More Powerful (Steam Hardware Survey)

3. Most PCs sold since 2008 run 64-bit Windows and unlike MacOS X, they actually run the 64-bit kernel by default. In fact there's no 32-bit kernel in Windows x64
4. No comment on connection speed as that's not a PC and Mac thing, that's just what people have at home.
5. A lot of PCs sold today are quad cores hence lower frequency but still more powerful than most Macs due to the fact that a majority of Macs are dual core products.

PC Wins
1. Vram, they have an average of 512 over our 256, though as many reports have pointed out, 256 doesn't really start to hurt you until you reach the 1920x1080 range. Otherwise FPS it almost identical. And since the average resolution is 1024x xxxx it doesn't matter either way.
2. Probably other things

So summary, the statistics say that, if you take a random Steam PC and a Random Steam mac, you will have

Mac
-Faster CPU
-More RAM
-Faster Internet Speeds
-A OS that isn't a decade old or 32 bit...
-A microphone
{The survey for mac seems to not have all the things it does for PC (yet)}

PC
-More vram (negligible)
-Windows Xp....lol!

The simple reason that macs are ore powerful in the hardware survey is that steam doesn't run on 10 year old macs but runs on 10 year old PCs.

However, I wouldn't say that's an advantage of the mac platform

Not necessarily "bad" porting, per se. If OpenGL support was there from the get-go, it would undoubtably be better. Apple's drivers are also considered to be another hold back. Apple is working with Valve on that one.

I find it disturbing that Mac is better then the PC in the stats. What am I going to blame on my inability to play the game?

Just complain about lag constantly in game. It's common enough a problem that it's believable.

Hmm, was expecting more trolling lulz, but it must be very subtle here.

In defense of the PC, I recently spent $1200 for a Quad-Core AMD at 3.4GHz, 4Gig RAM, 60 Gig SSD + 1TB HDD, nVidia 250GTS, a "gamer" mouse, and a Windows 7 64-bit OS, it's the fastest thing I've ever had, except for a few glitches.

After looking at Google for shopping terms with Mac, I'm glad I didn't pay as much for half the power and much fewer games. That said, Grand Theft Auto 4 isn't very good.

Wish I could design and sell dual-boot Mac\PC machines out of the box, I'd be a millionaire.
