Gmod Won't Start

Gmod Won't Start. It gets to the very fist loading screen and stays there forever. Here are some things to note:

*I own legal copies of GMod and Source Engine Games
*I've tried adjusting DXlevel
*I've tried updating my drivers
*I am using a laptop with an Intel Chipset as opposed to a Graphics Card. Though, Garry's Mod managed to run rather well at one point with the same hardware.

Any suggestions?

Laptops and source don't mix very well. When was the last time your Gmod actually ran with this machine? What are the rest of the specs on the machine including hard drive space? And, have you defragged the game files via steam and restarted?

I still get great performance in all the Source games. I have a Dual Core 2.5 Ghz processor with 4 gigs of RAM. A 500 GB hard drive with about 250 GB still remaining. I have not defragged my game files, so I will try that now. I ran GMod about a couple weeks ago and it was just fine.

Edit: I checked my Steam games and none of them seem to suffer from fragmentaion, so I don't think that's the problem.

I'd still recommend verifying the game files and restarting, just to see if it works. It's kinda like kicking something to make it work better Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

My gmod is experiencing a similar issue, however, mine just crashes about 10 milliseconds after the game launches. The game window appears for 10 milliseconds, then crashes back to the game library. I've reinstalled steam, garrysmod, and redownloaded the content. I've updated all of my drivers, and everything else that can be updated. Nothing has worked. Help?

I have the same problem

I have the same problem as the other guy. I KNOW that my comp is not too bad or that my drivers are outdated. I always run everything on max when playing anything, same goes for source games like TF2, Portal, Half-Life, Zeno Clash. I don't know what could cause it to stop responding. I just bought it and I've yet to have it work once.

Edit: I got it to start, it just took AGES to load the first time. Weird..
