Optical vs laser
Hi y'all
This thread is for low dpi players, I have a few questions I'd love to find some definitive answers to. I play at 400 dpi on a huge cloth pad. I love this style, I won't go into details because if you know what I'm talking about I don't need to explain. What I'm looking for is a great mouse for playing at low dpi in this game. I've tried several, SS ikari optical, laser and laser Xai. Logitech g500 and g9x. Razer Deathadder and Mamba. I'm not willing to go back into the stoneage and get an mx518 or MS IE 3.0 as for one thing they simply aren't available here and I like to "try before I buy" so to speak. The Ikari, while being a great laser mouse at higher dpi, and very comfortable is too heavy in the back end to get good control over. The optical far surpasses the laser at low dpi tracking, but has such a high liftoff that it's very hard to love. The Xai, while I love it for it's tracking, low weight and omnidexterity is simply not wide enough for my fat hands. If only they would put this mouse in a larger chassis. The logitech g500 also gives me the same issues as the xai being too narrow, but also is plagued by a 15g weight increase, yuk. My best fit so far is the G9X. The fit and feel is almost perfect except I'd also like it to be about 15g lighter to match the weight of the ikari and xai mice. Overall, the most comfortable mouse for me has been the G9x. My stats will show I have my best performance using this one. I attribute it's strengths to it's very well centered weight and customizable grip. Also having larger hands it's comfortable for me to fine tune my aim without having to put weight on top of it. However I cannot escape the horrible feeling that laser mice have compared to optical in tracking speed. No matter what the specs say optical mice still feel to track faster than laser. Has any low dpi mouser out there found the perfect mouse for this game? Something with the weight centered nicely around the sensor with good grip for the thumb and ring fingers as well as space to possibly rest a pinky for us big handed ppls? I'm curious as to how this Roccat Kone is but since it's not available where I live cannot go to check one out first hand. Please feel free to share and thanks a lot for any helpful info. |

I'm a razer fan and a high dpi user, so i can't give you much advice. But i guess you love sniping with your setup?
But it doesn't really makes much sense to me. DPI means dots per inch, polling Hz is how often information of the the mouse is retrieved. If you like a slow mouse (e.g. that you have to pick up your mouse) you can achieve this by lowering the sensitivity. High DPI on a very low sensitivity setting would result in being really precise in your aiming. As for the weight of the mice i have no idea, maybe somebody else has info on that. |

I tried using a work mates non-gaming laser mouse and it was a sack of ♥♥♥♥e once in game; if you go laser get a gaming mouse which you can easily change dpi. Optical is still fine though, it's what I use because I really can't be arsed paying for a laser until this one breaks but if you want extra precision laser is the way to go.

Thanks for the swift replies, but I get the sense that you guys, being likely high DPI users won't graft what I'm talking about in this thread.
No, I'm not at all a sniper for one thing. I like to run and gun with the automatic weapons and make a mess out of my targets by picking off their scalps. The reason a lot of pro gamers play @ 400 dpi is because you can tune your aim very finely. There is a technique to doing it while still being able to make fast 180 turns, but it's really a matter of preference, and in my case carpal tunnel syndrome. At low Dpi, you have to move your mouse a lot faster to make quick turns. This is where even current generation laser mice crap out. They simply cannot read the quick fast and far movements as well as optical. Hopefully the next gen of laser mice will compensate for this, but until then... Again thanks for the replies and if anyone else has anything usefull to offer I'm very glad to hear it! |

Look at this, taken from razer site: ~~ 1000hz Ultrapolling™ for Highspeed Responsiveness Increase your reaction time with The Razer Spectre’s 1000Hz Ultrapolling™, executing your commands with a mere 1ms delay, up to 8 times faster than conventional gaming mice. ~~ |

However I think some of the figures that might figure into what I'm referring to are the ones related to acceleration, and perhaps samples per second. For example the Ikari laser will do 20g acceleration and 40,000 samples per second, whereas the G9X is 30g and 150,000 samples per second. I believe top optical mice are rated much closer to the Ikari in terms of g forces and the g9x in terms of samples per second. Not entirely sure if those are the relevant specs or not, but what I can tell you from feeling is that at low dpi optical mice are still more responsive to the touch than the best generation of current lasers. |

Sorry to annoy you with this discussion but I'm seriously trying to figure out a good low dpi mouse and thought that other people might have something to offer in this regard. My mistake if I thought that this is what forums were for. |

I've had my Xai for about a half year now I think, and I'm loving every shot and every stroke. i play plastic pad but i would prefer a cloth pad for the good feel but plastic is more for.. competetive gaming for me, it doesnt feel as good to dragshot on but it gives me more precision
