Is it worth buying an Xbox 360 controller if I already have a Logitech Rumbepad?
I like my current controller just fine, but if what I hear is true and the 360 controller has become such the standard that all modern games coming out already pre-configured with no button remapping required, that does sound pretty tempting.
Is this convenience worth $50? |

I would have a hard time paying $50 for a wireless controller just get a wired, less $ no batteries to replace. Last edited by General Jameson: 06-27-2010 at 01:58 PM. |

Not to me. I dont know how seamless it is though, havent tried it.
I do need a controller or wheel, NFS Shift is pretty much unplayable with a mouse and keyboard. |

I had no gamepad, wanted one for years (decades to be exact) but the various stories of poor support in PC games and such put me off. The cheap plastic look and feel of the average controller for PC didn't help much either.
Like you, I heard the stories of the 360 controller becoming the standard and as I had a handful of games that were 360 friendly (Batman:AA, Braid, Prince of Persia, Tomb Raiders, Grid) I decided to take the plunge and buy one (wired). Haven't regretted it for a second and yes, it's worth every cent of the €36 I paid. Plug&Play at it's finest. |

Yes many modern games support it natively, and plus it's a freaking sweet controller.

Yes, it's the best controller for PC.
Also, quite cheap ~$30 |

I use the 360 controller and its just so much easier. Games like Batman AA, Tomb raider Underworld, GRID, Just Cause 2, Lost Planet 1+2 etc.. all register the controller when you press start at the main menu. Then everything is set to Y,B,A,X etc...
Be warned to unplug the controller if you wish to not use it on certain compatible games... the rumble went off on a game for me once when using the mouse + Keyboard and made me jump out of my bloody skin! |
