"Thief: Deadly Shadows does not support play on laptop computers."

Is this just a general warning that laptops have slower hardware or are there specific errors that occur on laptops?

I'm running Bootcamp on a mid-2009 MBP 13" (Geforce 9400M, 2GB or RAM, 2.26GHz C2D). I can play Doom 3 and TF2 just fine, for example. Will I run into trouble trying to play this on my laptop?

I don't think you will run into any problems because I believe that that was just a precaution because laptops didn't have pixel shader 1.1 6 years ago, and for 3 euros you should be willing to give it a shot.

I'm running it on a laptop

i7 quad-core
Win7 x64
4 gig of ram
ATI 5730 w/ 1 gig of ram

and it runs just fine for me. The Laptop warning is more to CYA their side so that customers can't complain if the game doesn't work well. But laptops that have come out in the past few years are just as good as most desktops.

You are absolutely right. If you look back to 2003 and 2004, when Deus Ex: Invisible War and Thief: Deadly Shadows we're released.. a lot of people complained about the requirements of these two games, specifically the fact that you HAD to have pixel shader support. The warning about laptops is strictly because they basically never had pixel shader support in the past.

Thanks. Just for the record, I'm in the second mission and it runs excellently ( mid-2009 MBP 13": Geforce 9400M, 2GB or RAM, 2.26GHz C2D).

Great, thanks for clearing that up. I was going to post a thread about this. It is rather odd that they posed that on steam, even though this is an older game. I have a olderish laptop, but I've got Pixel Shader 4.0 >.>

I was going to ask about this myself, thanks for clearing that up, I've wanted to play thief for a while so when I saw the deal and was doing a quick once over of the store page I was a smidge confused at the last line being "Thief: Deadly Shadows does not support play on laptop computers."
