No sound in Thief Deadly Shadows

I just bought the game on sale, and I'm not getting any sound in the game except the intro movies. Any ideas?

Windows 7 64-bit
8800GTX
Creative X-fi Gamer

Sounds like a problem I had with Bioshock..

I solved it by enabling "Stereo Mix" in the "Recording Devices" list when you edit sound settings. On Windows 7, you right click on the volume icon in the taskbar to get there.

had the same problem at the start. I just went to click on default for sound and it worked all of sudden. exit and restart the game later so the settings stay.

problem is now the game crashes for me =(

I had the same problem. I had originally ticked the hardware audio checkboc in the options (it's called something like that, just about the EAX - which for me is greyed out). After I unchecked it, it worked again...

I got it working.

Steps I took:
1. After installing the game, quit out of Steam entirely and then reload it. This will update Thief: DS
2. Go into the game, and if you have Hardware Audio mixing checked, UNCHECK IT.

The sound should now work
