Cannot change name since update

I still cannot change my name since the new update was released for counter strike source. There is nothing in the release notes about this being removed so I have to assume for now that this is a bug. I hope someone from Valve will fix this soon.

Use the community option, normally its shift+tab to bring it up then go to settings and change it there.

This. It's been this way since TF2 was released. CS:Source is now using the same version of the engine. Other OB games are just like this.

Why should they change this just because CS:Source players dont like it?

It's still not hard at all to change your name now.

You dont NEED to have multiple NAMES for your games !! put one NAME and that's It !!!

What about clan tags? Why should you go through the effort of changing it for each game?

This is an utterly pointless change with no advantages whatsoever

If it was actually more difficult to change names/tags, then I may understand what everyone is making such a fuss about, but seeing as it only takes 5-10 secs, if that, I just dont get it.

do you see that in any other game? (not counting the TF2 crap nobody cares about anyways)

why should a person be restricted to the same nickname that they use on steam?

p.s: who the hell are you anyways to tell another person what they do or do not need?

I already suggested a tag option a while ago. Until then, just wear all tags you got or just wear none. It's not like tags make you member of a clan. Playing with the clan dudes, participating in events and stuff makes you a member, not the tag.

I don't see why name not allowing ppl to change games names easily makes any sense, people get sick of their current names, or like to use separate names for separate games. This was a big waste of valves time to implement something like this, when they should have used that time to properly test the update on various machines...

I use scripts to change my name and there are MANY reasons why I would want a different name in-game than on my steam friends. It was an option before this update and I dont see any reason why it shouldn't be an option now. We had it before, we should have it now. None of the weak excuses above even hold a drop of water. Thanks for putting it back valve, cant wait until that next update rolls out.

Wait! That's not what the thread title says.

It says that you cannot change your name since the new update. Which is false, because you can just change your steam community name and it will change.

What you mean to say is:
"It's now harder to deceive people by changing my name all the time." "I don't like having to take responsibility for who I am and how I act." "Now people can find me easier."

To that, I say...
