Yup. I see it too. Starting around 60+fps, and it gradually goes to 40. Or if I have been playing something else like BC2, then start playing Sniper... low FPS.

Sounds like a heat problem. If your GPU gets warm/hot (as it should when you play compared to regular windows activity) and therefor lowers performance to avoid permanent hardware damage.
Are you running an old system (more then a year)? Try open your computer, vacuum clean your fans. Install a software (usually comes with your graphics card) to monitor your temperature, and see if there is anything that can relate your bad fps with GPU temperature. |

It really does sounds like a heat problem. Clean your computer with compressed air, then if it doesn't work try adding a fan. They are usually 10$ for a good one, but you need space in your case. If that still doesn't work, try a new case. Last solution is a new CPU Heatsink.

well all is cool enough and max temp on gpu is 91c so not a heat problem really
i am very good at looking after my pc and it is dust bunny free and cpu is cooled by a bolted ocz vendetta 2 and mx-2 paste, case is a coolermaster storm "scout" case with 1 fan at front bottom, 2 at side, 1 back and huge 1 at top towards the back max cpu temp during games is around 53c ram is @ ddr2 960 but is rated at 1066, really its a game problem and now i've finished the game anyway and other games dont lose random amounts of fps |

It's possible if he has liquid cooling.
91C is pretty high. My 470gtx reached that level on default settings when playing Crysis. Now with the MSI Afterburner program I can customize fan speeds according to temperatures and it never goes above 80, although the fans are a little louder. If your graphic card is getting to 90C then there is a real possibility that it's slowing down due to the heat. |

I'm serious... No liquid cooling, playing Crysis on Very High and my Radeon 5850 reach 50c. It have 2 120mm fans blowing on it and a 200mm fan at the bottom blowing in the case, and 2 140mm on the top, an other 200mm on the front and 120mm on the back. I've got a case with good ventilation (Haf 922)

I got to agree, 91C is pretty high. I think my gf275 has a fail safe of 105C to shut down. But I am running about 80C full load.

no my card has been the same since i bought it in april 09, i saw my old 8800gtx go above 100c playing stalker clear sky but it didnt fail and i presume is still working now although it was stolen out of a mates house some months back
anyway not all games make my card that high normally temps are 84c or even 75c for mw2, i cannot stress enough that for me its NOT heat related but i am gonna get some compressed air and blow it through the gpu cooler |
