Performance trolls me.

I'm going to make this short.
When I run the game, it runs like at 8 fps or less. Now, when any Steam message appears in the corner, it runs smooth like fresh bread. For once I thought, "yay it fixed itself!" When the little notification dissapears, BAM SO LAGGY. So I got an idea. I moved the character to a high spot, (so epically slowly) and jumped down. In the middle of the fall, I Shift+Tabbed. The overlay appeared, and the game in the background BAM SMOOTH BREAD. I close the overlay, BAM LAGGISHNESS 4 EVER. I am ever-so-stumped on this. Any help?

Yeah i've encountered that problem aswell. But when an achievement came up it ran really smooth but when it leaves its laggy
