Works in a virtual machine.

It works in a VM I am using just for fun under Ubuntu. Now only one question remains...

WHEN WILL WE SEE NATIVE STEAM FOR LINUX???

While it's certainly true that there are Linux resources in the current Steam versions indicating that Valve at least looks into Steam for Linux, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Steam for Linux would only make sense when there are enough Linux compatible games - and there simply aren't. There is already only a fraction of the games on Steam available for Mac, but for Linux it would in turn be only a fraction of that, even when Valve ports their own games (which they probably could, now that they have a working OpenGL pipeline).
