Any way to play 2 player with AI?

My brother and I wanted to play the campaign together with 2 AI players like Left 4 Dead, but it doesn't seem to allow this. Instead we got slaughtered with only 2 players on the team. Is there any way to add AI players in a friends only game?

Agreed, me and my friend just tried to play a campagin and got rofl'd. Not only that but if you only have 2 players and one HAS to be a certain class like a tech marine it just doesnt work unless you have the other classes to support you.

Yes, the tech character requirement limits it even further. The aliens don't seem to scale down with less players either.

I noticed when a teammate left he was replaced by a bot so it would be extremely easy for Valve just to make it so that empty slots are replaced by bots :/

Even though i have plenty of steam friends to play with, the bots are in the game and should be added to online!
