GTA 3 Dark Cars - Problem solved!!

Hey guys,
I found a way to solve the problem with the dark car textures, at least it worked for me.

The problem is the gta3.exe which seems to be broken or at least became responsible for it. I live in Germany, so my game is cut as ♥♥♥♥, I always had to use a different (or better said: an uncut) gta3.exe, which I simply used again, because after the update my game was cut again.

After changing the exe I realised, that all my cars are bright again, no problems with dark textures. I was running the game for 2 hours and had no problems with texture models or any game crashes.

Just for the case you may have problems with a specific download host, here is a list of hosts you can get the exe from (it's always the same file):

- Rapidshare.com
- Megaupload.com
- Uploaded.to
- MediaFire.com
- Fileserve.com
- Netload.in
- Hotfile.com
- Depositfiles.com
- Share.cx

(If I should've forgotten a hoster or any link is broken, pls PM me!)

Just copy the gta3.exe in your steamapps/common/Grand Theft Auto 3 folder and overwrite it, it should run properly.

I hope this works for you guys, because for me it did

Yeah the thing is we are doing the exact same like when the sound was broken. Switching back to the old cracked exe.

Why don't they test the game after they compile it?
Unbelieveable...

Oh, what a surprise. I set GTA3 to not update (again), and when I restarted steam today, lawks, it had reset itself to auto update (again). I guess we'll need to keep our own backups.

I actually had an even worse problem than dark cars. Nothing was displayed properly at all. This .exe fixed the problem. Thanks Rockstar for messing up an otherwise fine game once again and as an added bonus making me have to start the game all over yet again.

Any news on them fixing this yet.
As the exe fixes a few bugs like the front car lights,but we still stuck with dark textures.

Rockstar fix this damn exe,been too long now.

Rockstar are not going to fix it. :/ If anyone is having an issue, PM me and I can help you get the solution to the texture issue, if the one the OP posted doesn't work

just bought the game yesterday can someone pleeeeeease upload the crack to another site, rapidshare never works for me pleeease jus upload it to somewhere else

1.0 cracks work aswell, cause 1.1 just changed some rare graphical glitches.

Here's a mirror upload of the file linked to in the Rapidshare link in the first post. Rapidshare was giving somebody I know problems, and he just bought the game during the recent Steam sale, so I reuploaded it to Megaupload for him. (I had gotten it during the whole big Rockstar Bundle sale last spring.) Now it's uploaded for everybody else, too.

Simply replace the original gta3.exe in your steamapps folder with the one you download from Megaupload.

i did this an started the game but it pops up saying please insert the original gta 3 disc 2 please, just to clarify i own the steam version and live in the uk
