Congratulations Rune Forge & JoWood!

It just goes to show that if you build it, they will come!

The Guild 2: Renaissance is the top selling game on Steam right now, and thats with the Steam site having issues putting the game up for sale for half of the day!

The Steam Store ranks by gross income, that means that in order for the Guild to rank higher than Call of Duty, it has to sell over 3 times as many units!

You guys have created an official expansion made by your modding community, designed for fans and we have responded by buying the game en mass!

I truly hope that the sales figures for The Guild 2: Renaissance continue to grow and its spot on the top sellers list brings it to the attention of a great many people whom have never heard of this amazing series before!

Thank you very much. It is great to see the game in the higher ranks of the Top selling products. I guess it was really calm night but when taking into consideration that there so many issue with Steam yesterday, it is a great success and the numbers are quite fine. Hope you are enjoying the game and we are working with Runeforge to make it even better ... a new update will follow soon, and ... a new content patch (don't tell anybody )

Technically it is 2 mods.

Two very awesome mods, then made professionally with the source code instead of having to use work arounds.

Back to the Roots (BttR) and Trade, Pomp & Shady Business (HPfz)

From the FAQ:

Quote:
Q: Which features included in the modification "BttR" are also included in Renaissance?

A: Some, but not all. Renaissance includes the whole project HPfZ, which was developed by MoK and KaiserDark as a sequel to their first mod BttR (HPfZ and RotP were two independend modding-projects which were combined to Renaissance).
But HPfZ was a new project so not all features of BttR were ported to HPfZ.

So far it seems to be holding its ground nicely, as of this moment its in the top 4.

Standing toe to toe with Left4Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, Counterstrike, Call of Duty: MW and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is no mean feat and is certainly not something to sneeze at.

I hope that much like Mount & Blade, the game will bounce intermittently into the top sellers list as yet another wave of people discover this hidden gem of a game.

Very awesome!

Is that something you have to pay for, or is that something Steam does to advertise games on the top sellers list?

Edit: Screenshot for posterity!

This is something you get when Valve believe in your game ... and the great top seller ratings of today convince them that the game is it worth to be in the main banner rotation

That's really great to hear!

So how long will it be until the TG2:R turns a profit? Or were the development costs small enough that initial sales are already adding to the bank roll?

Absolutely and completely understandable. I thought I would ask even on a long short as some publishers don't mind disclosing such info, others do.

The only reason I ask is that as a fan of the series, I like to know that its future looks bright. After Dungeon Keeper, Titan Quest and Bloodlines, I'm left with this nagging feelings that something I enjoy can always be taken away from me. So I like knowing that a game has turned a profit, as it means the future for a series is more secure.

Anyway, that's neither here nor there, if you cant disclose such information, you cant disclose the information and I wont push the issue.

Just thought I would clarify why I asked.
