£2 Champions Online DEAL!
Champions Online is currently on sale now at play.com. Was going to buy off steam for the achievements, but its a £23 difference. So for anyone who is still considering this and lives in Europe, you can snag this game at a bargin price.

Thats your opinion, but others like and play this game. Furthermore, this thread isn't for listing what you think of the game, but to allow anyone interested in the game a link to buy this game at a bargin price. Appraisal is also permitted

though why anyone would want 5 copies of this crap I don't know... I mean, you might as well wait for Going Rogue to come out from City of heroes, and enjoy that far, far more. |

2. I made this for people in Europe where steam does cost over the RRP price, so they can buy the game at a reasonable price compared to £30 what is currently being charge on Steam. Not to mention it being even more for customers using the Euro due to the fluctuating exchange rate. 3. That is your opinion of the game and has no relevance to this thread. This is against the rules, as this is derailing the topic of the thread. Also like to say that I hugely support Steam and do not have anything against Steam. 71 Steam Games and counting .

and I bought 5 copies of it, because of the pricing of it, i'm getting 5 copies of something for 1/3rd of it's price. I played in Beta, enjoyed the game greatly, renewed my account with a frend referral and now that has run out. I bought 5 copies because I have a few friends I can dish them out to, if they don't want to play then I was hoping that I can use each serial every time one expires. (Could someone confirm this please? =] ) Surely you see my logic in that? After all, it's only £10 :P |

The premise of the game was decent enough, but when the game went into beta, the not-so-nice-things started leaking out, so from the start things really didn't look/sound too hot + Cryptic's rather pitiful attempts with 'Champions Online has X, while City of Heroes doesn't' spiel to make their game sounds cool was a major turn off also. Of course, we eventually get the launch day and hello.. Cryptic has learned NOTHING from the past mistakes and the nerf bat they swing around causes huge amounts of rage and tears in their playerbase. But getting past all that, i started my weekend long trial during the Bloodmoon event and boy.. technical issues and then some, spent day and a half downloading and then patching the game before i even managed to log in ONCE and shortly after, more technical issues pop up which cut out another half a day gametime. But again, overlooking the technical difficulties with the game, once i actually managed to make my way into the game proper and actually do something, well.. i was severely underwhelmed. The quests one gets, most were 'Defeat X of Y' or 'collect Z of C' variety, thus immensely repetitious and boring. Added to that the fact that all the in-game 'powersets' are pretty much the game, just with slightly different visuals/sounds, combined with the before mentioned repetitious content one is forced to grind out.. no, just no. If i wanted to play a contentless grindfest of an game, i'd pick up WoW.. but that has content at least (afaik anyways). Anyways, i gave the game another try later, durng some.. reactivation weekend thingy or some suchness but it was.. i mean, nothing had changed, except some more nerfs had been tossed around or so i was at least told at the time. Champions has one thing going for it though.. the rather amazing character creator, but even that has flaws, like the rather appalling lack of matching costume pieces. So all in all, in my honest-to-god opinion, the game is exactly as bad as all the negative reviews paint it out to be but then again, i've never been a fan of grindy MMOs. Well, if it works, then yes.. i can see the lure in that as getting the games for 2£ a pop would definately be a good bargain. Last edited by Lord Mordeth: 08-23-2010 at 04:51 PM. |
