Question Mass Effect not launching..

So I've had Mass Effect for awhile now.. (got it as a gift from a friend). It worked great, until I installed Windows 7.. Once I installed Windows 7 all it would do when I tried to launch it was "Preparing to launch Mass Effect..." and then it would just stop. I really want to play Mass Effect so if anyone can help me it would be much appreciated!

Verify its' game cache files. If that doesn't work, delete clientregistry.lob in your main Steam folder.

Try launching the exe manually from the common folder.

Just tried this one too.. But it does say something when I try launching the "Launcher", some kind of error message ("The following file could not be found: Launcher.xml"). But when I tried "MassEffectLauncher" it got into the launcher, but again, when I tried launching the game from said MassEffectLauncher, it still didn't launch.

I had exactly same problem. I solved it by running MassEffect.exe (located in steamapps\common\mass effect\binaries) as administrator.

Hmm, it seems that I don't have a 'MassEffect.exe' in my binaries folder for Mass Effect.. I have a "MassEffect" (application) and a MassEffectConfig (application) the rest are just application extensions... Grr..

Check if you have a gcf file for the game.
If you do, just delete the mass effect folder in the common folder.
Then launch the game again.

I couldn't find a gcf file. But I may not be looking in the right place.. Anyways, still haven't got it to work.. Any other ideas?

MassEffect (application) is the one I meant. Try running that as admin.
