I thought it was lame. It was very abrupt and kind of a let down after all the work trying to figure out which character I needed to show freaking fingernail clippings to in order to activate the trigger and advance the plot. Ugh. Too many things of that nature that didn't make much sense. Most of teh time I felt like I was in a personal battle with whoever came up with the logic for the event triggers. A battle for my sanity. And then after all that, the ending was just the icing on the horrible horrible cake.

MASSIVE SPOILER
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. It was some nobleman named Lord Gismond who suffered from the same disease like Sir William. He tried to find a cure, but needed others like him with the disease. Eventually when all his test subjects were dead he needed Sir William, so he injected him some sort of poison that made him look dead for a few hours. The doctor proclaimed him dead, after his funeral Adieu Jack and his accomplices opened the sarcophagus and brought him into the mansion of Lord Gismond. The doctor must've seen them and was killed, as was the gravedigger. After that Lord Gismond and his mongrel servant called the Night-Rider wanted to get rid of all witnesses, so him and Adieu Jack tried to kill Moor and Brian. Detective Briscol was attacked by the Night-Rider (?) at the tailor shop and discredited by those photographs with the dead tailor. Moor entered the mansion of Lord Gismond, found the ring, failed to kill the Night-Rider, escaped, told Detective Briscol about it, and then.. the end. What I don't get is: - the bite marks on the gravedigger. I thought it was some sort of beast who killed him? - why Lord Gismond spent insane amounts of money to buy land off Sir William. Did he want to get close to him in order to poison and capture him? - Moor said he smashed in the Night-Riders head.. but he survived? - Why was the Night-Rider wearing a scarf? He had the disease too? - the nobleman robbed by Brian and Moor.. he died? By the hand of the Night-Rider? |

Yeah. I have some serious wtf issues with this ending.
It's like the writers either got bored or were fired. Maybe the company put too much pressure on them for a deadline, but I could write a much better ending to this with little or no trouble. WTF. |

Yeah, the ending is a big @F_U_C*K You Very Much For Playing". Enough to make me swear and curse.
And I am disapointed in the last 15 minutes of the game. Cut scenes instead of actual game play. Like the taylor mission is just a click on the door. |

You know there's going to be a sequel right?
Hint " I have a strange feeling this isn't out last meeting anyway" |

Well, this is a pretty old post by now but regardless.
I think it's reasonably clear by the detectives comments on the disease: Aversion to Light and Sharp Teeth that Grismond and his servent were likely vampires (explaining how the servent/night rider could've lived despite the blow. I don't think it's a bad game because it doesn't have a happy ending, it seems like they were hoping to make a sequel and failed to have the sales for the game support it. For a metacritic score of 59/100, I was quite surprised at how good the overall characterisation was, I remember Dave Gilbert (another point and click adventure game maker) comment about how sometimes by the characters actions, it can seem like the character is a sociopath, I love how this was flipped by having the Tim character actually be a sociopath ![]() Anyway, I really enjoyed this game and it's a shame I'll never get a sequel :/ Hope others enjoyed it too

Just finished it wanted to see other's thoughts. I like sad or bad endings, it was just very abrupt, looked like it had no purpose other than to be bad and it did look they had a deadline to meet. If they had a sequel planned then well and good.
I enjoyed the game though I felt they didn't really figured out a solid interface in the way that there were items you could use which were not in the inventory. Didn't like the left click/right click thing because often they did the same thing: told you about the object except sometimes the left click let you use the object and sometimes you had to right-click an object to progress the game. I ended up left and right clicking every object again and again in case something would finally trigger. Having to wait for the barman to look away before I could steel the buttons had me stuck at the start. It wasn't very clear but that was about the only thing in the game where the movement of something on screen had an effect on when I could click. There should have been more of that. It was very well drawn. I liked all the imagery. The detective book was a nice touch too. I don't remember using his brush once but I swabbed every item in the game with it. I think they should have played with that aspect of the game a bit more. Both characters were interesting and I especially liked hearing Tim Moore's unspoken cynical thoughts. Shame they devs went under if that is true. I miss games like this and you can tell they put a lot of effort into it. Maybe these sorts of games will have a resurgence on the smart phones. |
