Cannot Join a Quake III Game

Hello, I got the Quake pack as part of the sale earlier in the week, and cannot join any Arena or Team Arena games. It says that the interface version is 3 when 6 is expected. Are there any popular, up to date servers left out there?

"User interface 3, expecting 6" is something to do with Auto Download.

Start Quake III Arena, Go to Setup, Game Options, and turn Auto Downloading ON! (This reset on me once, before you look for servers make sure it's on)

Even with this enabled, I still have this problem.

If someone could recommend a server that I could connect to that they know works (and, preferably has players), I would be very grateful. This would be very helpful for me debugging the issue.

ok heres what you do. in some server cases you need to push ~ for console and type cl_allowdownload 1

but thats not the start of the issue. now also its a good idea to download the pro installer from http://www.esreality.com/?a=post&id=1514034 which was posted in a quake 3 sticky forum.

You should be good after that, but another good idea is to get xfire and you can easily join servers using that. Some servers have different game versions. You'll need to download a patch changer to join different servers. from here --- http://www.quaketweaks.com/version.html

xfire will tell you which version the server is your interested in, copy the address change patch all in that simple program and join a server.

Now I know all this seems like a lot but its very simple to be honest. I hope this helps.
