ARMA 2 OA won't start anymore
Hi there,
got a problem with OA. If i want to launch the game, steam says "prepareing to launch bla bla..." and then, nothing. No loading screen, no intro. It's not a crash, it's just not starting. I installed the new catalyst 10.8 and updated DX9, but it's not working anymore. Anyone got the same problem ? My system: AMD 965 Phenom 2x ATI 5850 4gig Ram A week ago, the game ran just fine. Dunno what's wrong now. |

please try this
restart steam, (ideally start it as admin) revalidate then ARMA 2: OA file cache and start it __________________ Open Game Protocol : www.open-game-protocol.org Follow me at http://twitter.com/FoltynD |

Will keep working on it. |

I'm having the exact same problem. I'm running Windows 7 (64 bit), I've tried verifying the cache, erasing the Steam bin and reinstalling Direct X. A2:OA and CO all worked perfectly until yesterday. I've been dying to get my hands on BAF but yeah... I dont feel to confident buying it until I can get the game to run.

Same issue here. Game was running fine last night with BAF installed then went to run this morning and it wouldnt start. The "Preparing to launch..." window flickers on and off several times and then sticks on with cancel unable to be clicked (although you can click X to get out of it)
So...uh...what did I miss during my sleep? Edit 1: Revalidating does not work. Edit 2: Vanilla Arma 2 runs with no issues. Edit 3: Fixed it by removing all my games folders from steam, De-installing steam, re-downloading and re-installing, letting it patch up and moving my game folders back in Last edited by kai121: 08-28-2010 at 02:22 AM. Yeah, same here Kali. I've tried system restore, updating my drivers... Nada. The game starts up sometimes asking to install battle-eye and then nothing. I'm kinda regretting buying BAF at the moment.
I've also tried running Steam and the game as Admin, tried other user profiles. Its like the exe just doesn't get going.

are you starting STEAM as admin, "Run as administrator"
it's key to resolve several issues (including access to registry to write needed values) 1. exit STEAM 2. start STEAM (as admin) if You have ARMA 2: CO then ARMA 2 must be run at least once after integrity check (to write values to registry) 3 revalidate ARMA 2: OA and start once (again to get values written to registry) 4. revalidate ARMA 2: BAF 5. run ARMA 2: BAF or ARMA 2: OA (it don't matter which both will install BAF) anyway FallenFactol contact me on STEAMchat / irc i will try help ya realtime __________________ Open Game Protocol : www.open-game-protocol.org Follow me at http://twitter.com/FoltynD |

I don't have BAF. I have Zone Alarm, but ARMA2 works fine, OA is not starting for some reason. I have unchcked the steam overlay but it's still not working.
